Developing Language in Everyday Moments.

October 10 @ 1:50 pm - 2:40 pm

This workshop focuses on how everyone can support language development. Language development is typically incredibly robust. For those students, we can jump straight into using their current language skills for learning, participation, and assessment.
This is not true for all students though. Some students arrive at school and are still building their language skills up. Other students are masking their challenges with understanding our language and putting their own thoughts into words.
This workshops will talk about vocabulary and how we combine words together. These are fundamental skills for reading, assessment, conversation, and learning. Research tells us that language is learned through everyday interactions with people we trust in familiar contexts. There are thousands of opportunities to build vocabulary and grammar skills throughout the week, which will set up your learners for their entire life – in any and all languages that they speak!
