Harko has a passion and dedication for sharing nga taonga takaro - traditional Maori games and their associated protocols & rituals. They were once endemic learning tools of tribes and were associated with ako, hauora, mauri, whakawhanaungatanga & environmental connectivity.
Harko facilitates PD & educational workshops in Aotearoa for several leading educational organisations including PENZ, Sport NZ & The Ministry of Education. He is also Oceania representative for the UN International Traditional Games Executive and sits on the World Indigenous Games committee. Harko has collaborated with Indigenous in Canada, Brazil, Australia & in the US. Harko continues to build on his early ‘Masters in Sports & Leisure Studies’ research with the publication of six books and some 60 refereed articles.
